It’s a free, two-year program designed for college sophomores and juniors aspiring to become financial planners or wealth managers.
This is a program that is designed for students who are pretty certain they want to become financial planners and wealth advisors, not an exploratory program.
College sophomores and juniors in the United States with aspirations for a career in financial planning or wealth management.
Since the FinServ Foundation Fellowship is a 2-year program, we typically only accept sophomores and juniors since this program is designed to be completed during your time as a student and prepare you for full-time work.
Passion, a clear why story for becoming a wealth manager or financial planner, and a detailed application.
Applications that lack detail and/or are clearly copy and pasted from AI will be rejected.

Coaching calls are scheduled the end of the month on a Monday or Wednesday at 6:00 PM EST. Calendar invites will be sent out months before they occur. All sessions are recorded, so if you're unable to attend, it's required you watch them. The coaching calls are a very critical part of the program!
3-5 hours a month for the 24 months.
Currently, our program doesn't pair up Fellows with internships, but we do have a GroupMe where we regularly send out internships, full-time jobs, and opportunities.
Yes! We offer a handful of CFP®, SIE, and AIF prep course scholarships. Information about those applications will be sent out to Fellows when the applications open.
We also encourage you to seek out scholarships offered at your university of the CFP® Board website!

If your application is selected for an interview, you will participate in one interview round. There is no rigid or overly structured format. Interviews typically include an opportunity for you to share more about yourself, followed by a series of questions from your interviewer. You will also have time at the end to ask questions, which we highly encourage.
Interview length is ultimately up to the interviewer, but we typically recommend they schedule 20-minute interviews. Some interviews may run slightly shorter or longer, but you can generally expect approximately 20 minutes.
Historically, all fellowship interviews are conducted virtually. This allows for flexibility and accessibility, as our fellows and interviewers are located across the United States.
Absolutely. We strongly encourage candidates to ask questions, not only in this fellowship interview, but in any internship or full-time interview experience.
Whether it’s a question you prepared in advance or one that arises naturally during the conversation, asking questions demonstrates curiosity, engagement, and professionalism.
This is something our interviewers actively look for and value highly in candidates.
We recommend dressing professionally. At a minimum, a nice top or button-up shirt is preferred. There is no need to purchase anything new, but we strongly discourage wearing overly casual attire. This is a professional interview, and we encourage candidates to dress and approach it as such.
Timelines may vary depending on the application cycle. Your interviewer should communicate the latest date by which you can expect to hear back and will typically conclude the interview with this timeline. If a timeline is not provided, we always encourage you to ask.
Yes, absolutely. Nearly all of our interviewers are volunteers who generously dedicate their time to speak with candidates. We highly encourage you to send a thank-you email to your interviewer following your interview. You should be able to find their email either from prior correspondence or in the calendar invitation.
Sending a thank-you email is not only a professional courtesy but also an important career skill. While it is never a make-or-break factor, it is something we do note during the application decision process and is strongly encouraged.
Some common mistakes include arriving late, not being adequately prepared, dressing too casually, and not asking questions at the end of the interview.
We strongly recommend logging in 10–15 minutes early, as virtual platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams may require updates, and unexpected technical issues can arise.
Another critical issue is no-showing an interview. We maintain a strict no-show policy to protect the time of our interviewers. If a candidate does not attend their interview without providing advance notice or rescheduling, we will not be able to move forward with their application.
